Requesting a ground-floor room for an older relative travelling with us was handled without any pushback, and the full-day security made the whole stay feel settled rather than transient. Breakfast lived up to its reputation, the local specialities in particular were worth getting up early for.

Having the gym and the pool both a short lift ride from the room made this the easiest stay to keep a routine going, morning workout, afternoon swim, without losing the four-hundred-metre walk to the cathedral in between. Bringing the dog was never treated as an inconvenience by staff, which is not always the case even at properties that advertise themselves as pet-friendly. The suite itself is comfortable rather than luxurious, but everything about the layout works for a longer stay.

Staying here felt less like a hotel room and more like a small flat, which made the week go by more comfortably than a standard double would have. The pool got daily use once the afternoon heat set in, and the apartment layout meant we were not tripping over suitcases by day three. The trade-off is that everything interesting downtown is a proper taxi ride away rather than a stroll, so this suits a stay built around the hotel itself more than one built around sightseeing.

Being able to swim, hit the gym and still be back at the cathedral within four hundred metres made this the most efficient stay of the trip, nothing here required a taxi. Bringing the dog along was handled smoothly at check-in, and the electric kettle in the room turned out to be a small but genuinely appreciated detail for early mornings. The airport shuttle surcharge caught us off guard, so it is worth booking that piece ahead of time.

The pool is genuinely open every month of the year, which is not something every hotel in Rio Branco can claim, and the garden around it gives children room to run that a lot of city-centre properties simply do not have. The free shuttle from the airport also took the stress out of arriving with luggage and a tired toddler. Rooms themselves are comfortable rather than stylish, and the picnic area is a nice touch that most guests seem to overlook on arrival.

The balcony made more difference than expected, giving the children somewhere to sit with a view instead of being stuck between four walls after a day out. The pool and terrace downstairs meant we barely used the walk to the cathedral until the last afternoon, which says more about how comfortable the grounds are than any lack of curiosity about the city. Breakfast is a standard buffet rather than a highlight, but the room itself carried the stay.
