Our take
I would book Hotel Pio when the airport matters most: it sits only 200 metres from the terminal in Teresina. Air-conditioned rooms with an LCD TV and free WiFi, free on-site parking and a generous buffet breakfast built on regional ingredients cover a short stay well. No pool is listed, so it is less suited to a longer family holiday in the heat. An 8.0 score from 362 reviews is reliable.
- ✓If you're arriving by plane, take advantage of the hotel's close proximity to the airport for a quick check-in.
- ✓Don't miss the extensive buffet breakfast; it's a great opportunity to sample local ingredients like Tapioca pancakes.
- ✓Consider renting a car if you plan to explore Teresina extensively, as the city centre is a short drive away.
