The format is a budget hotel that also sells dormitory beds, not a backpacker hostel, and the distinction shapes everything about a stay here. Rooms and dormitories share the same tiled floors and private bathrooms, the property is entirely non-smoking, and free WiFi covers the building. What makes it more than a cheap bed is the position: 850 metres from the Hospital da USP Centrinho, close enough to walk to an early appointment, and a kilometre from the Vitoria Regia park for the hours in between. The automated check-in service removes the usual problem of arriving after a long coach journey with no one at the desk. The daily breakfast buffet runs to seasonal fruit and natural juices, which at this price is rare across the interior paulista.
